Frontline Defence Services is a self-sustaining "not for profit" organisation.

Our Purpose

To provide convenient, inviting and competitive on-base canteen services that contribute to a pleasant, safe and satisfying work environment which supports the retention of ADF personnel.

Our Mission Statement

- To provide convenience food and every day essentials through a variety of retail options.
- To deliver value for money across a suitably broad product range.
- To support local base communities.
- To maximize new business opportunities that will ultimately benefit members and their families.

Our Vision for the Future

AAFCANS exceeds its obligations in fulfilling its purpose.  We are well regarded by our customers and stakeholders alike and are accepted as an integral part of the Defence Community.

We envision that our business will be capable of responding to market forces and significant Defence demographic chances and has the monetary, operating and intellectual freedoms to do so.

We envision that when cash flow permits, surplus funds will be disbursed to selected amenities, trust and welfare funds for the benefit of members and their families.

Management Team

Mr Stewart McGrow
Managing Director - Board Appointed 1/07/2011

Stewart joined Frontline Defence Services with a wealth of experience and a background in management of retail stores, quick service restaurants bars, restaurants and leisure clubs in both Australia and the UK.

Within Australia, Stewart has been involved with organisations such as Compass
Group, through which he managed Eurest's involvement in the Sydney 2000
Olympic Games. During his time with Sedexo Stewart managed the Sydney Opera House business.

Stewart brings with him a working knowledge of the nature of the Defence and our
organisation, During his time with Compass Group, Stewart was responsible for the
introduction of branded retail and leisure concepts into Defence Establishments in the
UK, as part of the PAYD (Pay as you dine) concept.

Ms Jane Onley
Commercial Manager and Secretary to the Board

Jane was appointed Commercial Manager on a part time basis for Frontline Defence Services in March 2006.As a Chartered Accountant from a “Big 4” audit background, Jane spent the previous 15 years working in the commercial sector gaining extensive experience in running businesses.

 Predominantly working as a Financial Controller or equivalent, Jane’s principle area of expertise are financial management, budgeting and forecasting, management and financial reporting, corporate governance and policies, and company secretarial administration.

 Her experience includes working within retail, manufacturing, agricultural and mining industries as well as experience in government and publicly listed companies.

 Jane’s main focus at Frontline is the accurate and timely production of financial reports for the board of management and key stakeholders.  She is ably assisted in this endeavour by a very professional team within the finance department.

Mr Kevin Dunne
Manager – Food, Contracts and Auxiliary Business

Kevin Dunne was employeed with Frontline as the Manager of Food and Beverage in September 2005.  Kevin has gained extensive experience throughout his professional career and has a high level background, in cooking, hospitality management, Food Safety and Occupational Health and Safety.

Kevin joined Frontline after a fourteen year period in hospitality, progressing from Apprentice Chef to Executive Chef and Food and Beverage Manager in restaurants, hotels and island resorts throughout Australia.  These establishments included high class a la carte restaurants, Teppanyaki Rooms and large scale catering in resorts in North Queensland.

This knowledge, coupled with his drive and enthusiasm has seen Kevin take on his current portfolio within Frontline.  He is a highly motivated and professional team player ensuring staff have the reference material and tools required for facilitation of a streamlined and cost effective business.

Ms Joni Edson
Marketing and Public Relations Manager

Joni joined the Frontline Defence Services team in mid 2010 as Marketing and Operations Coordinator.

Joni is uniquely positioned to understand the Defence Force culture through her experiences as a child of an Army Parent, and as a RAAF Spouse.  Teamed with her 10 years of Marketing experience for International, National and small business organisations in the areas of Marketing Communication, Social Media Marketing and Marketing consultancy, Joni is proving to be a valuable asset to the Frontline Management Team.

Joni’s focus at Frontline Defence Services is to provide valuable information to our customers about national and local promotions, as well as our sponsorship and support of the general Defence Community.

Mrs Lenka Glimberg
Chief Accountant

Lenka Glimberg joined Frontline Defence Services in January 2005 and is employed as the Chief Accountant. 

Lenka is a Chartered Practicing Accountant (CPA) with experience in the manufacturing industry and the commercial sector.

Her areas of expertise are financial management and reporting, cash flow management and budgeting. As the Chief Accountant her primary responsibilities include leading the finance team to ensure compliance and meeting deadlines, identifying and implementing system and process improvements and generating monthly financial reports for the board of management, the outlets managers and external parties. 

Her attention to detail and enthusiasm has enabled the finance team to be an integral part of the business through providing support to its operations

Mr John Shaw
Operations Manager

John first started with Frontline Defence Services in April 2001 as National Relieving Manager.  Since then, John has worked in varying supervisory and management roles on both Army and Air Force bases. 

Through out his time with Frontline, John has also been involved in the set up of canteen services linked with Defence Exercises in the Solomon Islands.

John’s experience and knowledge comes from 10 years of management within major fast food organizations and Hotel Management.

John’s experience within Frontline and knowledge of the ADF makes him a valuable member of the Frontline team.
